SUMMARY:Webinar - Distributed Pumping for Commercial HVAC Systems
DESCRIPTION:Distributed Pumping for Commercial HVAC Systems\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\nGrundfos Distributed Pumping is a hydronic system design that optimizes the entire HVAC system while improving occupant comfort. It replaces energy wasting balance and control valves in HVAC systems with intelligent\, reliable and maintenance-free pumps that generate pressure only when and where it’s needed. Removing the balancing and control valves and replacing them with small horsepower intelligent pumps has multiple HVAC system benefits: a) significantly reduces the time consuming and costly process of balancing the HVAC system; b) also ensures a continuously balanced HVAC system years later; c) reduction of pumping energy required by 55% or more; and d) better Delta T control. This also translates to improved building comfort. \n  \nSpeaker: Mike Madsen\, Grundfos CBS\, Inc. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\nTue\, Jul 01\n\n\n10:30 AM – 12:00 PM PDT\n\n\n\nOnline event\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:Bozeman\, MT - Retrofit Installer Technician: Building Shell
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nRetrofit Installer Technician: Building Shell provides an overview of weatherization measures\, standards\, and residential building performance practices including building science basics and the house as a system. Additionally it introduces students to basic health & safety issues\, heating systems and mechanical codes. \nThe course follows the Department of Energy’s standardized curriculum for Weatherization Installer/Technician Fundamentals and has been modified to be consistent with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) Job Task Analysis for Crew Leader (that now includes RIT). \nUpon completion of the class\, students will know what tasks are required of a Retrofit Installer Technician and possess the knowledge\, skills and abilities required to do such tasks. The structure of the course includes lecture\, dialogue and practical demonstrations in lab situations. \nCEUs\nThis course offers 22.5 contact hours and can qualify as 22.5 continuing education units (CEUs) toward Home Energy Professional Recertification. \nCourse Objectives\n\nSelect appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a weatherization job\nUnderstand basic building performance principles\nApply building science lecture topics to hands-on practice in the lab\nUse common weatherization safety protocols\nSelect appropriate materials for a weatherization job\nApply basic air sealing measures\nUnderstand whole-house weatherization\nDemonstrate proper dense-pack insulation techniques\nUnderstand basic machine and tool maintenance\n\nOrganization of Course\nThis is a lecture-lab course. Lecture topics are presented in the classroom setting followed by hands-on practice in the lab. The class is appropriate for students who have had little or no previous training in this field. Student participation in discussions in the classroom and in the lab exercises is very important. This course has a group final exam and student participation is graded as pass/fail. \nGrading Criteria\nThe final exam is a group participation exam taken electronically. Group exams better engage students and allow students the opportunity to discuss questions and answers with each other and instructors. Exams are not graded but rather instructors ensure each student leaves with an understanding of course content. \nStudents receive course credit through attendance and group participation throughout class. \nAudience\n\nPrivate Contractors\nProgram Managers\nWeatherization Professionals\nBuilding Managers\n\nCourse Fees\n\n$725 for the public\nFree for associates of the Montana Weatherization Workforce\n\nFor additional information contact the Center at classes@weatherization.org or you can call (406) 586-0070.
