Webinar – Performance Commissioning: Delivering High-Performance Buildings and Enabling Electrification

Performance Commissioning: Delivering High-Performance Buildings and Enabling Electrification

Commissioning (Cx) is one of the most impactful actions you can take to ensure your building performs as intended — both today and into the future. Performance commissioning is often the missing step in both new construction and low-carbon retrofit projects and is a leading reason buildings fail to meet energy targets, systems do not function as designed, and low-carbon technologies experience premature failure.

In this session, you’ll learn what performance commissioning is, how it differs from traditional approaches, and why it is essential for both new construction and retrofit projects. You’ll also gain insight into how it supports electrification and ensures reliable, efficient, and long-term building performance.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • What is performance commissioning, how it differs from traditional functional checks
  • Why commissioning is critical for both new construction and retrofit projects
  • Key operational, energy, and cost benefits of implementing performance Cx
  • Available resources and emerging tools to support commissioning efforts

Webinar – Electrify Efficiently: The Why and How of Home Performance for Electrification

Electrify Efficiently: The Why and How of Home Performance for Electrification

Course description

This course is part of 2026 Heat Pump Week. Learn more and find other Heat Pump Week events here.

By enrolling in this course, you agree to receive text message course reminders. To opt-out update your profile here or upon receiving your first message you will have the option to opt out by replying “STOP”.

As heat pumps begin to proliferate the market, it’s important to recognize the importance of energy efficiency and home performance. Building systems are interdependent and it’s rare that addressing a single component will result in the most comfortable outcome. This session will highlight the importance of incorporating home performance concepts into heat pump projects or at least the home upgrade planning process. You’ll learn about unintended consequences of not doing so, as well as the huge upsides when done correctly.

Larry has 40 years HVAC trade experience in service, installation, sales, and management with a specialization in home performance. Beginning in 2014, Larry’s focus shifted to replacing gas furnace with high-efficiency heat pumps and in that time has designed and installed over 400 systems. Larry is NATE and BPI-certified and serves on multiple boards and committees focused on propelling the movement to Electrify Efficiently.

Agenda
  • Introduction and safety message
  • Unintended consequences of heat pump swaps
  • Introduction to home performance electrification
  • Making the case for home performance through real project data
  • Project examples
  • Class survey, closing and wrap up
Objectives

The objective of this course is that at the conclusion, participants will be able to:

  • Name two unintended consequences of unplanned heat pump swaps
  • Explain why load calculations are important for ensuring correct sizing
  • Describe why a standard BTU to kW conversion doesn’t mean right-sizing
  • Calculate how many BTUs are lost to the attic with uninsulated ductwork

Webinar – How to Go Electric For Renters

How to Go Electric For Renters

Learn about the energy efficient options available to help renters go electric.

As a renter, it may be hard to fully electrify without your landlord’s help. But you don’t have to own your home to go electric! There are many efficient options available to renters, and because the equipment tends to be portable, you can take it with you when you move.

We will highlight the options for heating and cooling, cooking, yard care, clean renewable electricity and transportation—solutions that are all available to renters. From room heat pumps to portable induction cooktops, you can turn your rental into a more comfortable, efficient home with improved indoor air quality. In addition, we will discuss what is happening in multifamily building electrification, the policies which will mandate this in the future and learnings from pilot projects.

Join us for a 45-minute webinar in which we’ll delve into electrification for renters: What are the best portable options for efficient space heating and cooling? How much do portable induction cooktops cost, and how do they perform? What other kitchen solutions are available to avoid using a gas range? What are your options for cleaning up your electric supply? What is the best way to charge your EV as a renter? What are other ways to electrify and save energy? How can you talk to your landlord about electrification? What are the impediments to electrifying rental properties? What has been learned about multifamily electrification through pilot projects?
